La Mer – Arabic Logo Adaptation
La Mer, the internationally renowned luxury skincare brand under the Estée Lauder Companies, turned to Tarek Atrissi Design to develop its Arabic logo adaptation — a crucial step as the brand expands its presence across the Arab world. Known for its refined identity and timeless elegance, La Mer required an Arabic wordmark that could reflect the same visual sophistication while respecting the integrity and flow of the Arabic script.
Our studio, recognized for its expertise in bilingual logo design, crafted a custom Arabic adaptation that echoes the high contrast, rhythm, and elegance of the original Latin typography. The design process involved extensive sketching, typographic exploration, and precise refinement to ensure a natural harmony between both scripts — not through direct mimicry, but through a shared graphic language. The result is a seamless pairing of Arabic and Latin logos, visually distinct yet unified, reinforcing La Mer’s brand presence in Arabic-speaking markets with authenticity and grace.
One of the core challenges of the project was translating a serif-based Latin typographic logo into Arabic — a script that does not naturally include serifs. We approached this by treating the Arabic design with fine typographic detailing, allowing it to reflect the elegance and timeless character of a classic serif typeface without compromising the authenticity of the Arabic script. The result is a clever and respectful adaptation that carries the brand’s luxury feel while standing as a distinctive Arabic mark in its own right.
